Durham Youth Housing and Support Services Is Looking For Volunteers!
We are looking for volunteers who have knowledge, time, energy, services and of course perhaps some money (certainly not necessary to volunteer but always welcome) to support our efforts to provide safe shelter and a place to call home if life circumstances have led any regional youth to homelessness.
The Board and management of Durham Youth Housing and Support Services (DYHSS) needs and welcomes the support and input of all community stakeholders to achieve our goals and help ensure that homeless and at-risk youth do not have to go elsewhere to receive the support they desperately need or worse, are left on the streets.
Together, Your Volunteer Support Can Help Achieve:
- Establishing a 10-bed emergency shelter for at risk, homeless youth (Opened April 7, 2008 - Thank you for your support)
- Working toward 50 beds of transitional and 10 beds of supportive housing
- Becoming the link between youth in need and the continuum of support services in Durham Region
- Becoming an employer of choice for those committed to working with at risk and homeless youth in Durham Region
We are looking for Board Directors and other volunteers to assist with Board Committees ranging from Communications to Fundraising. We welcome community groups interested in participating in helping at-risk youth in the Durham region and all private and public sector support.
